1. Our Approach
HCPC Brands Europe B.V. places no tracking, advertising or analytics cookies of its own on this website. We do not build visitor profiles and we do not sell or share browsing data with third parties for marketing purposes. Where you choose to load the embedded map, Google may set cookies of its own, as the table below states; those are Google’s and are governed by its policy. Below is a complete and transparent overview of every piece of technology on this site that stores information on your device.
2. What We Actually Use
| Site language cookie | Our website is built with the Polylang plugin, which sets a strictly functional cookie ("pll_language") - configured with the Polylang default lifetime of one year, and shown with its exact expiry in your browser's cookie inspector - to remember which language version of the site (e.g. English, Dutch, German) you are browsing, so that navigation and page links stay in your selected language. This cookie does not track your browsing behaviour, is not used for advertising or analytics, and is not shared with third parties. It is considered "strictly necessary" under the ePrivacy Directive because it exists solely to deliver the language version you actively selected, and therefore does not require separate consent. |

| Web fonts | Our website loads typefaces (Cormorant Garamond, DM Sans) from Google Fonts servers. This connects your browser directly to Google and transmits your IP address, in order to display our website's typography correctly. Google may process this as described in Google's own privacy policy. This connection sets no cookies, but transmitting your IP address is itself processing and needs a legal basis; the privacy policy states which one we rely on. |
| Contact form | Our contact form submits directly to our own server (no third-party service) and uses a temporary security token (a WordPress nonce) to help protect against cross-site request forgery. The token is valid for a limited period rather than for a single use, it does not authenticate the sender or prove the identity of whoever submits the form, it is not a tracking cookie, and it is one measure among others rather than a guarantee against spam. |
| Embedded map (optional) | Our Contact page offers an embedded Google Maps location. The map is not loaded when the page opens: no Google Maps content, cookie or other storage is placed until you click 'Click to load map'. That click is the consent for this embed, and it applies to the map alone — the Google Fonts connection described above is made on every page load, on a different basis. Once you load the map, Google receives your IP address and browser data and may set its own cookies and local storage; Google determines the purposes of that processing and its own privacy policy applies to it, while we remain responsible for placing the embed and for the information and choice we give you beforehand. You can withdraw your consent for the embedded map using the button below the map. This removes the map from the page. You may additionally clear Google cookies and site data through your browser settings. Withdrawal does not undo processing already carried out while the map was loaded. If you want to check this yourself, the network panel of your browser shows which requests a page makes and what is stored. |
On a standard page of this site, the only storage placed on your device is the strictly functional language cookie, and the only third-party request is the one that loads our web fonts. Neither requires consent. The optional map is the exception. The map loads only after you have received the relevant information and chosen to consent: the button states what is loaded and to whom the request goes, the choice is yours to make or not make, and nothing about the rest of the site depends on it. That is why a page you have not clicked on needs no consent banner. You can deactivate the map again at any time — the button below the map stops any further processing from the embed and returns the page to its unloaded state, and clearing the cookies and site data for google.com in your browser removes what has already been stored, which we cannot do for you. What cannot be undone is any processing Google already performed while the map was loaded.
3. What We Do Not Use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies (e.g. Google Ads, Meta Pixel)
- No analytics or statistics cookies (e.g. Google Analytics)
- No social media tracking or embedded share buttons that set cookies
- No cross-site or third-party advertising cookies placed by us
4. Managing Cookies
You can view, manage, or delete cookies at any time via your browser settings (usually under Privacy / Site Data). Deleting the language cookie will simply reset the site to its default language on your next visit - nothing else is affected, and no other data is lost.
5. Changes to This Policy
If we ever introduce analytics, advertising, or any other non-essential tracking technology in the future, we will update this policy and implement a consent banner beforehand, as required under the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR.
